Pilibhit

The raw material used to make Flute (also known as Bansuri) comes from Pilamat. Flute is a wind instrument made from a tube with holes that are covered by the fingers or keys, held vertically or horizontally so that the player's breath strikes a narrow edge. The modern orchestral form is a transverse flute, typically made of metal, with an elaborate set of keys. After focused study and training one is able to play the flute with perfection. The district is famous for its flutes nationally as well as internationally. Pilibhit is the only district in the country known for production of Bansuri.

Introduction

Major part of Pilibhit District is covered by dense forest. At present approximately 78478 hectare land of district is of forest land. The Sharda canal is the main canal of the district. The main crop in this area is sugar cane. There are four Sugar Factories at Majhola, Puranpur, Bisalpur and Pilibhit. Other major units are three solvent plants, one flour mill, one steel plant and one Alcohol Distillery. Small scale industries are Rice mills, Engineering Units, Brick Klins, candles and mainly bansuri (flute) manufacturing.
