Tribal Craft
The craft in Lakhimpur Kheri is mainly handmade and people of Tharu tribe of the district are engaged in making these traditional craft which are supplied to various districts of state and also at National Level. It is a traditional sector of craft, and applies to a wide range of creative and design activities that are related to making things with one's hands and skill, including work with textiles, moldable and rigid materials, paper, plant fibers, etc. Products that are being supplied here are artistic and reasonably priced.
Introduction
Lakhimpur Kheri is situated along the border with Nepal. The headquarters of the District is situated in the city of Lakhimpur. Dudhwa National Park (the only national park In Uttar Pradesh) is the most famous tourist destination for which the district is known for. This park is a home to a large number of rare and endangered species including Tiger, Leopard, Swamp deer, Hispid Hare, Bengal Florican etc. Being a Low Land (Terai) district it is rich in natural resources with lush green scenery and many rivers.
Jaggery production
Jaggery is the product used by every category of the society. Jaggery is being produced in Lakhimpur-Kheri from very old time. The Jaggery produced in district has a sound demand at local level, state level and at National level. It is exported to some other states to meet the demand. Sugarcane based industrial units are dominating and at first level in the district in comparison to other manufacturing units. In the Jaggery production unit, employability seen in very sound stage. Each unit can provide employment to 20-25 persons either in direct or indirect way, which is more in comparison to other industrial units of same level. In the district, more than 500 Jaggery crusher units are established (Micro level units) these units utilize cash crop sugarcane. Jaggery produced in Lakhimpur-Kheri still exported to various parts of the country.
