Pottery is made by forming a ceramic (often clay) body into objects of a required shape and heating them to high temperatures in a kiln which removes all the water from the clay and creates the products by increasing their strength and hardening and setting their shape. Pottery is the ceramic material which makes up pottery wares, of which major types include earthenware, stoneware and porcelain. Traditional pottery in Khurja of Bulandshahar dates back to the reign of King Feroz Shah Tuqhlaq. It began with display of blue art on ceramic pots. The district has around 350 units in pottery industry. These units generate direct and indirect employment.
